Test Utility
Magnesium levels can be an indicator of many conditions. Low magnesium levels (hypomagnseium) are often associated with diabetes, diuresis, hyperthyroidism, hypoparathyroidism, alcoholism, heart, and liver diseases. High levels may be found with renal failure, dehydration, severe diabetic acidosis and Addison’s disease.
Urine Drug Screen Profile Includes:
Methodology
This procedure uses a direct method where magnesium forms a colored complex with xylidyl blue in a strongly basic solution and measured biochromatically at 520/800 nm.
